Episode 14: South End Foodienerd #1 – Las Ventas

So I decided it was important for me to feature/celebrate some of the very cool cheese stores in my hood – the South End of Boston.  The South End was originally built the 1800’s and recently has been everything from a home to Syrian and Lebanese populations to being the gayborhood of Boston in the 1990’s.  It is now your stereotypical artsy/yuppie/mixed Brooklyn-esque gentrified hood of Boston.  It’s the largest brownstone neighborhood in America.  I love it here.

So my first adventure was to Las Ventas and Luiz – the person I first mentioned on the blog and who has given us all of the amazing Spanish cheeses.  Las Ventas is a Spanish food import store.  Bob and I tried three cheeses he gave to us.  I’ll review them in the next post in which we ate them at Ward Reservation with some friends.   Luiz is a great guy and very informative about Spanish cheeses!  If you haven’t been to Las Ventas – what are you waiting for???

Sorry the sound is kinda sucky.
